Work has continued on the Ezzel and has so far convinced me that she won’t break apart at the first sign of trouble. Things started off well, as Captain Mayj Mar seems to have become lucid and is talking. Informing him that he has lost a decade of time was not an easy task…. and I have no clue how to approach the topic of Alderaan. I will leave that up to the psychologists back at base.
What he was able to tell us is that his ship was attacked by a Vindicator-class heavy cruiser that had numerous half-spheres on its hull. It seemed that the presence of the ship kept the Ezzel from jumping to hyperspace and allowed enemy reinforcements to batter down the shields. Likely the enemy ship was a prototype Interdictor-class cruiser. I’m not sure if the Captain has much more useful information to tell us, as the war and technology have greatly changed in the decade that he has been frozen.
Trouble found us quickly after debriefing the Captain though. Gron Toka and Lissa Daraay were able to get some systems like fire control and the sensors online… only to find that a Lambda shuttle was currently in the process of landing in our port hangar bay. We quickly grabbed our gear and rushed to the hangar bay, only to be greeted by sixteen stormtroopers and an officer disembarking from the shuttle. While Drex Odam found an ideal firing position, the rest of the crew stood back and waited to see how the Imperials would react to us.
I introduced ourselves as ship salvaging specialists from Xix who had found this beat up rust bucket adrift and without power. The officer in charge introduced herself as Ynneva Brumarch and asked questions about our operation. We escorted Ynneva on a tour of the ship… mostly in hopes of splitting the Imperial forces should we be required to attack them. During conversation with her, I started to feel as if she did not think highly of her Imperial employers. She apparently was an outside consultant who was called in to help the Imperials interface with the locals. The stormtroopers who walked with her followed her orders… but treated her as a potential threat or escapee rather than as a commanding officer.
The crew decided that we should attempt to free Ynneva from the troopers and eliminate the threat on the ship. We quickly took out half of the troopers in an ambush, before the other half could learn what was happening. Afterwards, we offered Ynneva the chance to join us…which she declined for the time. She instead offered to help us get information and meet up with us in the future. While it may have been breaking regulation to let her go, I don’t think it would have been helpful to detain her. The risks are great.. but her potential help could be a great asset to us.
Afterwards we quickly scrambled to fix the ship’s hyperdrive. We managed to take parts from the spare hyperdrive to repair the main drive, which should net a speed of 6×. The only thing after that was to plot a course back to base. One brief encounter with a customs ship later, we were able to make the final jump and complete out mission.
